I may be under egging my top speeds on the lammies, but they are a good bit faster than a T5. Smallies are a different kettle of fish, how heavy is your scoot shaggy?

Ive no idea on a weight. but no where near as heavy as a bulky fucking largeframe pig

The sprinter on the other hand weighs fuck all Cool I can pick the complete bike up by hand. I wonder how this will affect handling and acceleration

talking of long stroking malossi kits, im in the process, like shaggy has said, when done properly they work, its all about getting the timings correct, and most importantly working out the gearing to suit, my dilemma is that i have an over size back tyre so in theory up gearing it as the profile is higher, so i still have to sit down and do the maths to work out the best gearing to suit the motor,

the problem with long stroking is it shifts the power back down the range, so it gives more mid range than top end, so for example if my engine is producing 19bhp top, in a normal stoked malossi the peak power will be higher up the rev range therefore able to pull more for top end, but lower down it will only be around 16/17 bhp, when its long stroked, 19bhp is available mid range but then 16/17bhp is only available higher up for top end, hence a lower top speed,

this is why im in a dilemma on what gearing to go for and therefore have to brush up on my maths to work out how im going to get this engine to perform and put power down where I want it,

realistically i have thought, when do i ever try burning people off from a standing start, hardly ever, even if i filter through to the front of traffic my bog standard p2 was able to pull away from the lights quick enough to nip in front so i don't need the most power here,

however, finding power to overtake is what i would prefer, just pull on the throttle and whip round, hence im looking into long stroking it, especially if im going to be going to rallies on it too,

plus having the power on tap and not having to change gear to find the power mid range can be fun, thats the joy of having lots of torque,

as for top end, im not looking to break any records, looking to sit at about 70mph for cruising but still have enough power to pull up to about 85mph,

similar to the gts in respect of speeds,

so i really need info on how to work out the best gearing for this machine, given you can chop and change the gearing to suit,

what would someone recommend for gearing?

after my street racer, i was thinking about getting a lammy to work on, but i really fancy a small frame for some serious power, make it a proper sleeper or sprinter style, hmmmm you have got me thinking about one now

That reminds me Shagg, I need to ask you a couple of questions about the polini. I'll be having a mess about with it I reckon. I was pondering the effect of raising the port timings a little and opening up the exhaust with a view to getting a bit more than just low end torque out of it. As I know jack shit about this sort of thing would you be so kind as to point me in the direction of some info?
