    sprinting question?

Post by NorthernJordan on Tue Sep 18, 2012 3:54 am

How much does head winds affect your speeds when sprinting? At the scooter shoot out there were wind speeds of 10-15mph (or so I've read). Clearly, my speed wouldn't go up 10-15 mph if there was no head winds...

It could probs knock off a good 3 - 5mph depending how hard and the direction.

Mine will be scary to ride if I get hit sideways on. Its a pretty light bike

It's not as simple as that. There's too many variables to look at and calculate i.e. reduction in HP through the power band, nominal wind resistance at higher/increasing speeds, actual force created by a 15mph headwind etc etc.

And I'm not enough of a geek to be able to answer that one I'm afraid...

I was fairly happy with the 66.8mph that I hit. And was more curious to how wind much wind affected your top speed. Obviously, it would be different for different scooters as gearing and power will play a part. My SX gearbox isn't the best into the wind as there is a big gap between third and forth, and forth is quite tall.
