A DR kit is a good basic bolt on kit. Just got to make sure you build it correctly ie check piston to bore clearance and squish etc... You wont gain masses of power, but you find it better up hills and into the wind than standard. As long as what you havbe is in decent nick, you shoukdnt really need to change anything like crank as it really isnt that power full.

As above. Squish shouldn't be that much of an issue with the Dr as they come with a cylinder head (cant hurt to double check, but the piston clearance needs checking as if its too tight you'll never get it to run right.

I thought I'd chuck this in...

Check the port edges. cast iron kits tend to have sharp edges and need chamfering slightly with emery paper. with out checking and correcting you can run the risk of wrecking the piston which in turn (depending how lucky you are) wrecking the bore.

Im not saying this is the case every time ,but there is no harm in checking
