    barrel and crank question?

Post by NorthernJordan on Sun Sep 30, 2012 10:27 pm

I have a chance at a potentially cheap tuned rapido barrel, but it was previously running on a 60mm crank. Would it work on a 58mm crank?

    I aren't fully sure.
Ian will be able to elaborate on this, i imagine if the crank was too short then you could potentially skim 2mm of the top or bottom of the barrel.

Although, that would potentially fuck with the port timings.

But there would be a 2mm packer plate when its used with the 60mm crank, but with the 58mm crank I wouldn't use this...

Hopefully he will, this barrel produces over 20hp from 5000rpm to over 8000rpm with the same pipe as mine... If its cheap and will work I might buy it lol.

If it's cheap then have a gander mate.
You may as well if it's there, you're fuel bills wont be any cheaper.
But, I guess it will be fairly fun Smile

I know mine is 18bhp, but I've not seen the graph.... But that extra bit off power could be quite fun and potentially cheaper than having my barrel tuned.

As far as I know its a normal rapido barrel using a 60mm crank with a packer plate.

I'll speak with the guy and find out all the work that's been done. Then come back here.

    ok, cool.

What im thinking is , if the ports have been raised at all, with the shorter stroke they will be sky high and your pipe wont support it at all. It will just rev out and die off.
