Winter Overhaul? - What do you need to do to yours?

Post by NorthernJordan on Wed Nov 07, 2012 5:26 am

Ok, one more rally for me then its the end of scootering for the year. I am really wanting to do some work to the jet to get it back up to scratch. Theres nothing really wrong with it, but stuff has worn out or wasnt a priority in the original rebuild. I want to make it more useable and better to ride.

    1. I want to improve the braking, so im going to put new shoes in all round, clean up all breaking surfaces, adjust cables better. And, for the front brake i am going to convert to a reverse pull set up. (i dont have the cash for disc break, and i dont think it would do the bike any justice)

    2. Fit rev counter, ive had this sat around for months now. I just need to figure out how to mount it.

    3. I want to put new fork springs in the front, to firm the front end up abit.

    4. Paint exhuast, its starting to get rusty and i dont want to fork out for a new pipe after one season.

And then theres the dilemma to whether or not i should tune it further...

Waht do you need to do to yours?

TX wants: a full engine teardown; new bearings all round, possibly fit the 210, get the disc brake on and attack it with a tin of matte black.

The P2 wants far too much that I can't be arsed to think about it for the time being

get off my arse, spend lots of money on the rat and get it done for start of next season, so I can enter it into as many custom shows as I can to piss people off.....

I would say get round to doing my smoothed panels and sip seat for the p2 but as its getting used all winter theres not much point, keep damaging it bit by bit...

Nah, just a standard 125, oversized. a circlip came out of my piston on the way home from mersea, i decided i would try out my 135 kit on it as it was my only option then. Got it built, ran like dog shit. So i'm just going to go the easy way and buy 125 and then tune when i can afford it tbh

    Tweak the Tx
    Tweak the Sprinter
Rebuild and re-think the bottom end on the Ets engine.
The weather and the cold is killing workshop progress.

but the biggest thing is sort myself out. Unhappy bunny stuck in a deep box atm

Is it a PK, they are fairly pokey as standard arent they?

it's a primmy 125 engine. I'm looking at getting the et3 top end. I've got the barrel just need a piston, just has an extra port if i am correct.. haha. But yes, they are very good IMO, especially for a bog standard. I was doing 55mph on way home from mersea, im more than happy at that for now, until i get abit more road experience i dont reaally want to get a more powerful motor :p

Ian, hope all sorts out man, not good being down :/

Bought my piston today. Was quoted 36 for it, got to the local dealer, bought a few other things for me dad too, final cost - £24. Result! But then found a complete 125 top end in one of the garages so i've now got a spare :p Will be building engine up again tomorroww

Forgot to say that i have finished it now! I took it for a test the other day after i did it and after about a mile, it died. I though 'F**k the woodruff key has sheared again or something. Luckily the walk back to my house was all downhill and on cycle tracks so i just kind of glided down the hill home. Turns out, my fuel pipe was kinked because it hasnt got any room underneath the tank, which is a big relief as that is easily fixed!

Rhys, get yourself some TOYOX clear fuel pipe. It has a spring inside so its anti kink.
    Its decent.

cut it as short as possible but not too short as to stress it
