Vespa T5 MK1 locking nut tool!

Post by Axiom on Tue Jan 01, 2013 12:05 pm

What's the best way to remove/tighten up the locking nuts on a Vesap T5 MK1? obviously using a hammer with a screw driver works but totally messes up the nut and makes it a one time use thing. Anyone have a good method?

You can get a tool to do it, or make your own but only if you're still on the original castle nut. Otherwise most T5s have been retrofitted with two steering column rings locked together. Otherwise the "special tool" is a hammer and screw driver.

As it's rare to need to take the headset off on the T5 I just shag the locking rings and replace them - not very economical, but like I say £5 every blue moon isn't that bad.
