    Lambretta cutdown progress thread

Post by Watson76 on Wed Jan 16, 2013 8:16 am

Right, figured I'd make a progress thread just for something to do and hear your guys opinions. Hoping to have this finished in the next couple of months but depends on cash and if I ever get some time off work lol.
Here we go...my first lambretta, was sold to me like this

Yeah, nice if you like skellys but me personally I don't...

So first week of owning I started stripping her down, hummed a little bit wether to put her back to full frame but quickly decided I wanted to build a cutdown and hopefully eventually a sprinter!

Frame was soon stripped ready for fab work and of course the grinder Twisted Evil

    ]
So first step was to remove the gash struts in place for the legshield struts. The welds looked tidy but soon realised they was smoother over with filler and literally ended up flicking off the the grinder went over them.

This is as far as I've got at the moment, time has been an issue but hopefully going to crack on this weekend.

Next is chopping up the frame loop a little more Twisted Evil

Also got some side panels I'm cutting up to fit

As Im getting some rearsets made, do I go for trimmed leggies or the cobra style like these? I'm personally swaying towards some like these.

Colour, I was thinking candy blue with black chrome components? What are your thoughts?
Any questions or comments feel free to ask!

Personally, i wouldnt cut the full back end off. That way you can still fit a sprint rack and use the bike for rallying easily.

An up and over exhaust would work well, but you may have to get one modified or find an 80s one.

Haha hopefully!yeah I see that on lcgb and thought the exact same, would look smart although the smell of burning flesh isn't too nice Very Happy hah!

Thought about the rack but with no floor pan I was thinking on fitting some sort of removable rack there, or if I go down the trimmed leggies route I can keep all my gear when rallying as Ill have rear sets.

Okay, so managed to squeeze in a few hours on the scoot today. Quite happy with what I've done and its given me better vision on other things now the main shape is sorted.
    Safety first guys Laughing

    No going back now...

    Scrap from today's efforts

This is the basic shape of what I'm going for

So need to cut the legshelds to shape, grind off the rear brake pivot bolt and the side stand bracket before I think about colour scheme again. But un sure how I'm going to mount the side stand now?? Hmm. Any suggestions?
