New-mods in Nottingham, I'm fresh on the scene

Post by georgek on Wed Feb 01, 2012 5:12 pm

Hi, my name's George and I'm currently studying at West Bridgford Sixth Form.
Modism is everything to me, as it seperates me from the chavs, letalheads and generally scummy classmates I have. i'm looking for other mods in the area to generally start partying with - I'm sick of getting my hopes up about local events to find them full of 80's mods.

I thought there was a big mod scene in Nottingham?

    Anyway, welcome to the forum.

you're right mate, bang on. I'm not gonna pursue the point I was making any further, I was kinda hoping to discover a gang my own age, but I guess that's probably not realistic

That night at Kitchener road is run by a young couple.... If you don't go to these things, you won't find other young people Wink Also, the "oldies" are normally pretty sound.

its alright pal, i have had to grow up to be part of many social groups,

chavvy during school, skin head through college and first year of uni, indie through the rest of uni, then towards the end i grew my modish hair cut, all this while also being part of the scooter scene, keeping it real, keeping my street cred and also tailoring things to a complete mongrel of a person,

i like al-sorts of music and like different parts of different social trends, as well as having to mingle with people who are old enough to be my dad.

i mean i had my paul weller/noel gallagher style haircut and went to creamfields, i must of been the lad with the longest hair at that festival,

a word of advise is just be yourself but don't alienate yourself because you have a liking of the mod style, adapt it to how you want, don't just be another carbon copy of what was back then, move it forward and be a 21st century mod, thats how I see myself.

    welcome to the forum cat

Welcome! don't diss '80's mods' you may prefer the 60s style but you don't want to turn into one of these guys who starts dissing peoples gear if it's not original or whatever because it just makes you sound snobby :-)

    you got a scooter lad?

You just want a legitimate excuse to call me moddy boy. Registered, just waiting to be authorized
