Post by NorthernJordan on Mon Feb 27, 2012 8:32 am

Has anyone used a veriable ignition uniti on there scooters? I am just wondering about the improvements over static ignition.

I was looking at the chiselspeed mtech unit for my lammy.

the mtech unit is very good as its programmable i think ?

basically , as the revs pick up the timing retards with it. no more pinking at high rpm really. I think the Vtronic retards about 8 degree's.
You can advance the ignition more for more Torque too, but you also have to mess with jetting too. not really worth it on a road bike mind unless your willing to have a good play about with it

Once the scooter was built I was thinking of having it dyno'd down a chiselspeed. So while I was down there I thought it might be an idea to have one fitted...

Its worth it, deffo helps with the motors survival.
the programmable unit will be good to play about with to, choose an ignition curve to change the power delivery

I am also thinking of getting a power jet hooked up too.

Hmm, I was going to get it dyno'd. I don't want to cock up the jetting. It was one of those things, if I am going to go and get it dyno'd I might as well have a few gadgets fitted. Razz
