rumours of Lambretta GP going back into production...

Post by NorthernJordan on Thu Mar 29, 2012 6:57 am

There's rumors that the GP may go back into production made by SIL. The Indian government having been toying with the decision of either increasing production or selling SIL off. But apparently, they have decided to increase production. SIL have produced a few auto lambretta prototypes, so maybe something along those lines may hit our streets? Any way it will be interesting to see what happens... Smile

It'd be interesting to see if they sold, as a lot of people slate those twist 'n' go Lambrettas now, saying 'They're not proper Lambretta's', well, neither is an S.I.L...

I hope they do, but is there a big enough market for geared scooters?

There isn't in the UK, but in italy they sell thousands of Lmls and pxs. If they can price them cheaper than the PX, they'll sell by the bucket load!

There is definitely a market for SIL produced GP200s. They could definitely compete with Piaggio's PX150.

the only thing they will have a problem with is reliability, electrics and emission tests,

they would have to follow LML's buisness model to be a success,

i.e. redesign a new 4t engine to fit under neath and try and solve the problem of where to put the indicators, which doesn't mess up the whole style of the scoot.

Original GP's fitted with indicators don't look too bad tbh Smile
